1. Senior Practitioner

A small number of people with a disability might have behaviours of concern, like hurting themselves or other people. Sometimes those people have restrictive practices. Restrictive practices are things that help to stop people doing those things.

The Disability Act makes sure the rights of people who have restrictive practices are protected. It is the job of the Senior Practitioner to protect the rights of people who have restrictive practices.

2. Victorian Equal Opportunity and Human Rights Commission

The Victorian Human Rights and Equal Opportunity Commission helps to make sure people with a disability are treated the same as everyone else. People can contact the Commission if they think they have been treated unfairly.

3. Victorian Charter of Human Rights and Responsibilities Act 2006

The Disability Act was developed at the same time as the Victorian Charter of Human Rights and Responsibilities Act 2006.

The Department of Health and Human Services funds and provides services for people with a disability.
